Hed-Core Academic Commons Membership Policy
1. Purpose of Membership
Membership in the Hed-Core Academic Commons provides individuals and institutions with access to a collaborative platform for research, dialogue, and knowledge-sharing. It is designed to democratize access to scholarship and foster partnerships across disciplines and sectors.
2. Eligibility
- Individual Members: Faculty, independent scholars, students, policymakers, NGO staff, and professionals engaged in research or knowledge work.
- Institutional Members: Universities, research institutes, NGOs, government agencies, and professional associations.
- Membership is open globally, with no restrictions based on geography, discipline, or career stage.
3. Rights of Members
- Access to the Commons repository of publications, datasets, and resources.
- Participation in forums, thematic groups, and collaboration spaces.
- Ability to submit and publish research, policy briefs, and blog contributions.
- Invitations to Commons events, workshops, and conferences.
- Visibility in the member directory and recognition within the community.
4. Responsibilities of Members
- Uphold the Commons’ Core Values: integrity, inclusivity, collaboration, accessibility, impact, respect, and innovation.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, ensuring respectful and constructive engagement.
- Respect intellectual property rights and data-sharing agreements.
- Contribute actively to the community through dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
- Maintain accurate and updated member profiles.
5. Membership Categories
- Standard Membership: Open to individuals; includes full access to Commons resources and participation rights.
- Institutional Membership: Designed for organizations; includes opportunities for partnership, co-hosting events, and joint publications.
- Student Membership: Reduced requirements for early-career academics; includes mentorship opportunities.
6. Membership Duration and Renewal
- Membership is valid for one year from the date of registration.
- Renewal reminders are sent 30 days before expiration.
- Members must confirm continued adherence to the Commons Charter and Code of Conduct upon renewal.

Membership may be suspended or terminated if a member:
